How long have you been doing this for?
I started as an assistant wedding photographer in 2001 (shooting on medium format and 35mm) whilst studying for my degree in film photography. Jess Petrie photography was launched in 2011. My husband Rodrigo joined me in 2012 and together we have shot hundreds of weddings all over Europe, and beyond... Photography has always been my passion and I’ve spent my whole life taking photos of (and for) different people for a diverse range of projects. I’ve worked around the country (and around parts of Australia) for some of the leading photographic companies and newspapers. I am also the owner of Beautifully Undressed Boudoir.

Rodrigo has always had a keen interest in photography, and he absolutely loves weddings. His interest began in 2002 when he started travelling to different places and meeting different people, and he wanted to keep a visual record those times.

Due to recently having a young family, Rodrigo may not be able to join me for all of my weddings so, I may do them alone. On some occasions I may have an assistant with me.

Do you travel abroad for weddings?

Yes, most definitely.

What cameras do you use?
I use Canon DSLR's and I always have back-ups. My cameras don't beep and I try not to use flash, as I prefer natural/ambient light. But I also own quality lighting equipment (which I may use for indoor shots and for photos on the dance floor).

What time will you arrive?
I generally arrive at least 1 hour before you're ready to leave for the ceremony. I will always try to capture both sides to the first part of the story (if you are both getting ready in the same venue).

Do you provide colour and black and white images?
I use my artistic judgement to determine the best edit for each image. In your final gallery you will receive a combination of both colour and black and white.

How many images will I get?
It varies and depends very much on your wedding schedule and how many guests you have. I would say minimum 350.

What about group shots?
Of course, if you want them. But it’s totally fine if you don’t. I send out a simple online form and here you can specify any group shots.

What happens if it rains?
You still get married, and I still take pictures. On the actual wedding day I guarantee that you won’t care what the weather is doing.

Where do I seat you to eat?
I'm happy to sit with your wedding guests and eat what they eat. I have no dietary requirements. It means I can be on hand for speeches or anything else that’s interesting to photograph. Or, if there is a bar area, I'm happy to take some time out and grab a meal there. Weddings are great fun, but they are also hard work, so a hot meal will keep me going.

What happens after the wedding?
Hangovers, a honeymoon, cloud 9. I take about 12-20 weeks to work on your images, which I will then share with you via a password-protected online gallery. All of your images will be in high resolution and ready for printing.

How do we book you?

To book please fill in the contact form and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. A £500 deposit is required at the time of booking.

Travel costs are included (in the U.K) if the travel totals to 50 miles (to and from the location/venue), anything further and additional mileage costs will be charged. One to two nights accommodation maybe also be required dependant on distance.

Please note: I do limit the amount of weddings I cover to allow me to give the best service possible to each of my clients. And as I am very fortunate to receive a high volume of enquiries, I do get booked up quickly. So please don't hesitate to get in-touch for my availability.

Add-ons

Fancy some photos of you both/your family prior to your wedding day? Perhaps you are a little shy of the camera and would like to get some practice of being in-front of the camera, or you would just like some casual relaxed photos of you both in contrast to your wedding day pictures. We love documenting portrait sessions, and they are also a great way for us to get to know one another. I am always keen to hear of any ideas you may have for the session, whether it be a stroll in the peak district, or something else. The cost for the add-on engagement/portrait shoot is £250.00 and you will get a password-protected gallery showcasing all of your photographs beautifully edited in a mixture of colour and black & white (including 20 digital negative image files to download, with a print licence).

I also offer a range of wall art, framed prints, beautiful fine art albums, and presentation ideas.
