“The Beauty Of A Woman”

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
but true beauty in a woman Is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
the passion that she shows,
and the beauty of a woman
with passing years only grows.

Two cool cats, one dog, and a Harley Davidson in Sheffield, Kelham Island.

“Many will call me an adventurer, and that I am…only one of a different sort: one who risks his skin to prove his truths.”
― Che Guevara

I myself being a very keen motorcyclist fell in love with the idea of Rebecca and Johnny bringing their Harley to their pre-wedding shoot, I mean I had my most favourite things in life all at once; my camera, a Harley and my husband!  What more could a girl ask for (a girl like me that is)?

Rod and I had fun spending time with both Rebecca and Johnny, and we managed to get some pretty great snaps in-between the Spring showers.  We hung out at the Urban 1/4, it was all very relaxed and informal and we talked about life, motorbikes, travelling, oh… and weddings.

Here’s a bit of what we captured on film…

Beautiful Maternity Photography Sheffield

I love photographing the expectant mother, there is just something so beautiful and joyous about these types of shoots, it’s like everything around them knows of this little miracle soon to enter the world.  Everything about the shoot is magical and the photos demonstrate this.  To capture yourself in photographs are as your little miracle is growing is really special, and I feel it’s such a beautiful and important time that must be caught on camera, to look back upon and cherish forever.  No matter how a pregnant woman feels I believe that every expectant mother looks radiant, blooming, gorgeous and very special.  And if you choose to document this magical time in your life you will see what I and everyone else sees when you look back upon your photographs, I can guarantee it.

The photographs below just supports the above in every way.  When Ruth booked me for her maternity shoot it really was a wonderful moment.  Ruth is a fellow photographer and I felt completely honoured that she had asked me to be the one to document her Mothering glow.  Ruth told me of the ideas she had planned for the shoot; the henna design on her bump, her hand-made flower-crown, her hand-made bouquet, and that she wanted her husband Dave to join her up on Surprise View in the Peak District. Yes. Yes. Yes!

With Ruth and Dave’s ideas and plans, together with our vision, we created some pretty magical visual records for them to cherish, just take a look…

Family Portraits at Bolton Abbey.

Clare and Dan came up from London for their pre-wedding shoot.  As they are soon to be married at Bolton Abbey Priory they decided they would like their shoot in the grounds of the Yorkshire Estate, how exciting!  Bolton Abbey is incredibly beautiful and does hold a lot of found childhood memories for me, so we all shared great things in it’s majesty.

Naturally Clare and Dan they brought their two gorgeous children, and Grandma, and it was just really nice to hang out and chat about their wedding plans, meet the children and Dan’s Mum, and get some pretty cool photographs!

Understated pre-wedding photography Yorkshire

It was great to kick off the year for wedding photography with a couple pre-wedding shoot at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.   We always love to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as they do change some of their exhibition pieces regularly, and it’s so big that every time we go we find a new spot, a different landscape, a fresh piece of art, and that’s pretty cool.  We met with Rachel and Dom over the weekend for the first time, they came up form their home town in London.  Their timing was perfect as despite all of the snow and cold weather it was sunny and actually quite a lot warmer than it has been for a while.

Rachel and Dom admitted to us that they were a bit nervous about having their photographs taken, and this is very natural and 99% of our couples feel this way, even us!  So we can totally sympathise and relate to how they do feel.  And this is why pre-wedding shoots are so important because you get to combat those camera nerves before the wedding, and realise that it’s actually not all that bad and you quite enjoy having your picture taken after all!

When planning a pre-wedding shoot with our couples we always let them suggest the location; preferably a place they like to visit on a regular basis, a place that holds fond memories, a familiar place, the venue where they are soon to be married.  It’s important to us that our couples feel at ease as much as possible, and familiar surroundings can really help do this.  We also explain to them that it’s not about posing for the camera but rather about them getting to know how we work, us getting to know you both a bit better, talking about the wedding plans and other interests, grabbing coffee, going for a walk, and taking photographs of you both whilst you are chatting, laughing and walking together.  We can guarantee that after the first 10 minutes you will be 110% comfortable with our style and approach and you will also enjoy it, a lot!

We would describe our photographic style as non-intrusive, raw, understated and real, and our couples also agree.  By having this style and approach to wedding photography (in life and work) it allows us to capture those un-guarded real moments between two people in love.  We think we have a pretty cool job!

Just take a look below at how Rachel and Dom’s pre-wedding session turned out, do they look nervous or uncomfortable to you?  Don’t they look amazing?!  We can just picture their wedding photos now and how incredible they are both going to look!

Newborn Photographer Sheffield

Newborn photography is precious, it freezes that moment caught in time of your little ones forever.  Most of my newborn photography is photographed indoors and I do come out to my client’s homes.

There is nothing more beautiful than a newborn baby and to be able to create artistic imagery of your precious one to cherish forever is very special.  During my sessions it’s important for me that the baby feels warm and comfortable and that the parents are also calm and relaxed.  I do give some advice and tips based around how to get the most out of baby and the session before I arrive.

Get in-touch to find out more about my newborn package, bump + baby package, albums and advice to follow before the bump + newborn sessions.

I also photograph baby-bumps/maternity too.

Sheffield Family Photographer

I really love being Sheffield family photographer as much as a Sheffield wedding photographer.  Spending time with a family in their natural habitat, whilst capturing their normal routine and ways on camera (that make up those later cherished moments) is something a bit special and precious.  Over the weekend I got to spend some time with my good friend Kelly Hood (from Boho Weddings and a Boho Life), Nick and their adorable Son Dexter.  I arrived just in-time for bath-time, and honestly I think Kelly and Nick had just as much fun as Dexter, and even I did just by being there.  It’s really evident that both Kelly and Nick are absolute naturals at parenting and that they really enjoy playing the part too.  Dexter is a really happy chappy and it was really lovely to be in their presence and capture their family life on film, they are such a beautiful family.
