Understated pre-wedding photography Yorkshire
It was great to kick off the year for wedding photography with a couple pre-wedding shoot at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We always love to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as they do change some of their exhibition pieces regularly, and it’s so big that every time we go we find a new spot, a different landscape, a fresh piece of art, and that’s pretty cool. We met with Rachel and Dom over the weekend for the first time, they came up form their home town in London. Their timing was perfect as despite all of the snow and cold weather it was sunny and actually quite a lot warmer than it has been for a while.
Rachel and Dom admitted to us that they were a bit nervous about having their photographs taken, and this is very natural and 99% of our couples feel this way, even us! So we can totally sympathise and relate to how they do feel. And this is why pre-wedding shoots are so important because you get to combat those camera nerves before the wedding, and realise that it’s actually not all that bad and you quite enjoy having your picture taken after all!
When planning a pre-wedding shoot with our couples we always let them suggest the location; preferably a place they like to visit on a regular basis, a place that holds fond memories, a familiar place, the venue where they are soon to be married. It’s important to us that our couples feel at ease as much as possible, and familiar surroundings can really help do this. We also explain to them that it’s not about posing for the camera but rather about them getting to know how we work, us getting to know you both a bit better, talking about the wedding plans and other interests, grabbing coffee, going for a walk, and taking photographs of you both whilst you are chatting, laughing and walking together. We can guarantee that after the first 10 minutes you will be 110% comfortable with our style and approach and you will also enjoy it, a lot!
We would describe our photographic style as non-intrusive, raw, understated and real, and our couples also agree. By having this style and approach to wedding photography (in life and work) it allows us to capture those un-guarded real moments between two people in love. We think we have a pretty cool job!
Just take a look below at how Rachel and Dom’s pre-wedding session turned out, do they look nervous or uncomfortable to you? Don’t they look amazing?! We can just picture their wedding photos now and how incredible they are both going to look!
